Fine Georgian Giltwood Arm Chair in the Manner of Thomas Chippendale

About the Item

Newly upholstered in a spring green pure silk from the Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company (thickly woven from an original 18th century fabric pattern) and with double piped and button back original detailing. With anthemion and ribbon carving to the arms, fluted tapered legs with leafy terminals and lovely tied ribbon cartouche to the back, all indicative of a high quality 18th century maker and with some decorative elements in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. Photographs showing the complete and original frame prior to re-upholstery are available on request. A beautiful and elegant chair, solid, comfortable and usable. Some light wear to the gilt, tiny nibbles and minor restorations consistent with a chair of this age which has been very well cared for all of its life. No weakness in any joints, no significant repairs, a very fine armchair with beautiful oval overstuffed seat on ribbon carved rails. Dimensions are: Height is 38 inches, max width is 27 inches and depth is 26 inches. Height from floor to top of seat is 17 inches. Height from floor to top of arms is 25 inches Width between the arms is 23 inches and depth of seat is 19 inches. For metric please multiply by 2.5
