Galaxy 'Peggy' High Armchair by Umberto Asnago for Giorgetti, Italy, 1990's

About the Item

Postmodern Italian Design Galaxy series 'Peggy' High Armchair by Umberto Asnago for Giorgetti, made in Italy 1990's. Black laquered frame with blueish grey green flower fabric. Superb design in very good condition. All original fabric. Measures 116cm x 83cm x 75cm. Umberto Asnago (born in 1949) attended the Istituto d’Arte in Cantù and after learning how to work with solid wood by experiencing it in local carpentries, he started working with Giorgetti in 1968. Soon he took over the responsibility of the Research Centre and developed many products for the company, which he left in 2006 to pursue a career as a designer. He worked with many famous companies such as Penta Light, Arflex, Busnelli, Medea and Porada by realizing pieces all carrying his hallmark. In 2011 he returned in Giorgetti and designed a new collection. Umberto Asnago is tireless and with great professionalism he interprets the rapid evolutions of the furniture branch. In 2019 he started a new collaboration with Frigerio for a full intriguing range of furnishing elements featuring a capable use of solid wood and hide leather covers.
