Lost in Space Stainless Steel Futuristic Armchair

The Lost Space Armchair takes place in the third act of THESHAW's Future Vestige series. It is the climax of the movie, a moment for which you are so engaged you cannot bear to look away. The form of this armchair breaks the usual conventions of homeware with its rigid, cold, cocoon-like bodice. Like a living body passing through it from the future, the backrest extends in an arc towards the rear, as if wings would spread out of it at any moment. The base takes form with neat and symmetrical rectangles creating a staunch base. Available in two materials, one a hand-polished stainless steel and the other in pure white resin. Each is a statement seat that takes your mind across great distances, it makes for a strong installation piece. The Future Vestige series is a philosophical endeavour about freeing one's spirit. The Lunar Sanctuary floor lamp is an ode to French architectural theorist Etienne-Louis Boullée's monument to Newton. A spiritual shrine that turns out was impossible to build. Shaw Liu finds inspiration in this unrealised architecture, particularly its spherical body, which was intended to mimic the effects and day and night.
