This rare pair of armchairs was designed by Cees Braakman and produced by Pastoe in The Netherlands, circa 1958. This striking model was numbered FM07 and is part of the iconic Japanese series designed by Braakman.
The design is marked by the straight lines of the black frame and the more geometric shapes of the upholstered seat, backrest and armrests. A modern and minimalist design that is visually attractive from all angles, while at the same time very comfortable to sit in.

Kuramata is particularly known for his use of materials such as acrylic and glass in his designs, which were often characterized by their minimalistic and geometric forms. His most famous design is the "How High the Moon" chair.
Kuramata's work was highly influential in the world of furniture design, and he was known for pushing the boundaries of what was possible with materials such as acrylic and glass. He was also a master of color and texture, often incorporating subtle shades and finishes into his designs to create a sense of depth and movement.
In addition to furniture design, Kuramata also worked on architectural projects and product design. He designed store interiors for clients such as Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto, and also worked on exhibition and display design. Kuramata passed away in 1991, but his work continues to be highly respected and influential in the world of design.
