About the Item

A Mid-Century Modern comfortable armchair - designed and locally produced by Ghyczy in the Netherlands. The armrests are made of solid black oak wood. The Frame of the armchair is made of stainless steel. The chair looks airy and and elegant and is extremely light weighted. The designer and architect Peter Ghyczy designed this iconic chair in 2017. The backrest can be adjusted to the preferences of its owner. The chair’s playful construction consists of Minimalist solid oakwood rods and polished brass tubing, made possible by a unique screw joinery of lacquered oakwood and polished brass. The armchair is upholstered with a special high end fabric inspired by the Chrysler Building in NY The 'Audrey' S12 chair consists out of two identical u-shaped polished brass tubes, and as a result it is easy to produce the chair in series, reducing waste production. The cushions are soft and comfortable. The armchair is available in different materials and finishes, and can be tailor-made to the requirements of the client. The 'Audrey' S12 armchair can also be made-to-order as an outdoor version. Ghyczy aims to establish a relational dynamic between local craftsmanship and durable materiality. Driven by our aversion to throwaway culture within our current contextual setting, our locally based production processes have led us to design and manufacture beautiful aesthetic furniture that is long-lasting and refined. For the past 50 years we have dedicated time and attention in making timeless and sophisticated furniture accessible. Versatile, custom and tailor made.
