“The challenge was to design a light armchair, not too high, using wood and leather. At the beginning, it was going in a different direction, but after making various models, prototypes and considering BD’s design team’s different perspectives on the matter, the result has inevitably drawn toward what is now the Gaulino chair, which was designed nearly 30 years ago. We did not envision it so, but the ergonomics and the aesthetic coherence of this piece has taken us toward a solution much like the Gaulino chair, an heiress of Gaudí and Mollino, and have decided to conserve the name.” OSCAR TUSQUETS The Gaulino Easy Chair...

Minimal chair and side table in chromed perforated (stretched) metal by Oscar Tusquets & Lluis Clotet for Barcelona Concept 1974 The famous Catalono Benches were often used in public area's such as airport's and railway stations This chair and table is out of production and was only produced for a short period late 80's early 90's by Barcelona Concept Table measures Depth 73cm x Width 61cm x Height 35.5cm History on the Catalano Bench: In the collection of Museu de les Arts Decoratives de Barcelona It is a perfect outdoor bench: it doesn't overheat in summer or freeze in winter, it dries quickly after rain, does not accumulate grime, provides good back support, can be used fixed to the ground, free-standing or wall-mounted, is transparent and does not intrude on the urban landscape, is light and easy to transport, can be adjoined to an infinite number of modules on both sides. It is also very economical. The bench is made of perforated deployé sheet metal, which ensures that it is both tough and light. Each module measures one metre long and is designed to combine and interlock with other modules at both ends. The contours of the Catalano are an adaptation of the continuous bench designed by Antoni Gaudí in Parc Güell...
