Pair of Antique Italian Armchairs with High Relief Carving, circa 1860-1880
About the Item
This grand pair of antique upholstered Italian oak armchairs are carved with remarkable details in relief. The backrest is covered with a number of carved motifs from ribbons, flowers and masks to a pair of human figures. The arms end in a lion's paw with vines and flowers carved on the apron and the stretchers below. The rich, caramel colored oak shows through the black finish due to years of use, adding to the wonderful patina.
This item is part of our “un-restored” collection and is being sold in "as is, used" original condition; how we found it in Europe.
