Pair of ‘Premiär 69’ oak and leather easy armchairs designed by Per-Olof Scotte for IKEA in 1967. These Swedish Modern armchairs feature minimalistic solid oak frames, cognac patinated saddle leather seats, and matching backrests. Sweden, 1960s.
Before IKEA became global, the mid-century company only had stores located in Sweden. In the mid 1960s, IKEA sought out a group of young designers to create timeless, modernist furniture designs as part of the planned expansion to other European countries. Per-Olof Scotte was one of these designers, creating his famous ‘Premiär 69’ chair in saddle leather over an artfully sculpted solid oak frame.
