Pair of English Regency Period Early 19th Century Black and Gold Armchairs

About the Item

A pair of English Regency period painted wood armchairs from the early 19th century, with gold and black décor and leopard style upholstery. Created in England during the short Regency period in the early years of the 19th century, each of this pair of painted armchairs features an open back with carved panel accented with a griffin style figure. This back is connected to two large arms with scrolling extremities, that come to rest on a turned support flanking the seat on each side. The seat, covered with a leopard style fabric, is raised on four legs, cylindrical in the front and saber in the back. The entire structure is painted in a black and gold color with the addition of red on the back's upper rail. Boasting a nicely weathered patina revealing their good age, this pair of English Regency period armchairs from the early 19th century will bring an undeniable touch of elegance to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or foyer.
