Pair of Mid 20th Century Walnut, Caned Back Fireplace Low Armchairs

About the Item

These very comfortable antique ladder back chairs with armrests were crafted in Spain, circa 1940. Built in walnut and cane , each armchair sits on round turned legs and features two ladders in the back embellished with round finials at the top. The wide and deep seat is upholstered with a new fabric and the cane back is original and in perfect condition. The country armchairs are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich walnut patina. The versatile and sturdy low "chauffeuses" chairs are meant to be placed close to the fire place to stay warm, but could also be used for occasional seating.
