About the Item
The design navigates between the river and the sea. Between the fluidity of rivers and the flow of the Atlantic tides on the northeast coast. Witness the meeting of the waters with an address in the mangrove and gathers narratives of the landscape that inspire the concept of Raízes armchair. The ecosystem rich in the diversity of fauna and flora reveals an exuberance in the tangle of aerial roots, characteristic of the vegetation in this habitat. The organicity of the forged aluminum piece is exquisitely coated by the handmade mooring of the nautical rope. The design reflects the fresh and minimalist essence taken from nature.

Sergio J. Matos
Sérgio J. Matos, 43, born in Paranatinga, a small town in the state of Mato Grosso, specializes in authorial design, furniture, objects and scenography. He has been performing this function for 12 years, but professionally, since the opening of his studio in 2010. The fact that he was born in a region close to the Xingu indigenous reserve, surrounded by the natural diversity of the forest, learned early on to be curious to know , admire and observe this culture, which awoke and stimulated him to look for ways to work with these natural materials and colors extracted from nature.
