About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning fully restored dark reddish brown hand dyed leather Victorian Porters armchair A very good looking and nicely refurbished piece, this is an original Victorian circa 1860 armchair, it has a new feather filled seat cushion, the seat platform is all coil sprung The chair is fully restored as mentioned, the leather has been stripped back to the natural colour of the hide, its then been hand dyed this glorious dark reddish brown colour, the timber has been lightly cleaned and stained, the seat cushion is brand new custom made for this chair with new overstuffed feather filled internals Original Porters chairs like this from the Victoria era are very rare, even the reproductions are rare as they are complicated to make. This chair was reupholstered at some point in its life, the work has been done to a high standard, the entire back and sides are one piece of premium thick hide leather, if you have a look at the back and side pictures you will see there are no join lines, usually the leather is cut in three pieces so upholsterers can use off cuts, not on this chair, they have used one whole hide Dimensions Height 114cm Width 82.5cm Depth 78.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
