Set of Two Midcentury Armchairs, in Blue Zebra Print Velvet, Europe, 1960s

About the Item

The Ewa armchair is an extremely shapely and comfortable upholstered piece of furniture. The steel welded frame and slender twisted legs with movable feet are the hallmarks of a modern classic. The Ewa armchair was produced in Poland and Deutschland in the 1960s and 1970s in small quantities, which is why today "Ewa" is a rare finding. The Ewa armchair has a frame made of welded steel wire. Upholstery belts were wrapped tightly around the frame and sewn by hand to the upholstery fabric and wire. The characteristic metal legs were threaded to facilitate quick disassembly. The upholstery is high quality Italian velvet fabric in stunning zebra print in blue. The set has been professionally restored - the metal legs were refreshed, the tension belts have been changed, new upholstery foams used, reapholstered with new fabric hand sewn.
