About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this pair of lovely fully restored Bordeaux leather Gentleman’s club armchairs part of a large suite with a great history There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page These are part of a suite, all restored to the same finish and standard, I have two two-seat sofas, one three-four seat sofa and five armchairs These pieces were handmade in Chelsea in the late 1970s, they were shipped over to the British officer’s mess in a barracks in Germany, I’ve seen pictures of very grand high ranking military officials and even Royalty sitting in this suite, sadly the original owner kept a few choice pieces for themselves along with the pictures Each piece is exceptionally heavy, the base’s are traditional English coil sprung, each spring is hand tied eight ways, hessian padded and strapped, the cushions both back and base are deep heavy feather filled, the back cushions are sewn into place The upholstery has all been hand studded in place using oversized antiqued brass studs, the finish is truly stunning These genuinely are the penultimate gentleman’s club seating, they are cool, comfortable and with very thick hardwearing leather Prior to dispatch all the pieces will have new hessian base covers fitted as the cover you can see at the moment is a little tatty around the edges Dimensions: Height:- 81.5cm from the floor to the top of the frame, 86cm to the top of the cushion Width:- 87.5cm Depth:- 90cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
