The Swallowtail chair is made to order and hand-crafted in western North Carolina by Brian Fireman. Inspired by the majestic wing-span of the Swallowtail Butterfly, Fireman is known for his flowing, organic designs and their abstract reference to nature. The arms of the Swallowtail chair slide under a desk or dining table. The chair is equally suited as a set around a dining table, a desk chair, or accent chair. Shown with either combination of cherry or walnut frame and seat.

Brian Fireman Design
I have chosen to follow the path of designing and building handcrafted contemporary furniture for the main reason that it brings me great joy. Beyond words, I am attracted to the beauty of the material in which I work. In the studio, there are lessons every day. Designs are inspired from many sources, from walks in the woods to overseas travels, but mostly from the wood itself. Whether working with live-edge slabs or more sculptural forms, the intent is to allow the inherent beauty of the material to acquire a second life as a piece of furniture. Wood is quite a sensual material, and it is my hope that the work reflects my passion, awe, and respect for these great trees.
