Swedish Period Baroque Armchair with Carved Splat-Back, Soothing Blue Palette

$5,180

About

A Swedish period Baroque carved and painted wood armchair, circa 1730-1740. This antique Baroque chair from Sweden has a nicely carved splat-back with pierced accent just under the top rail, arm rests roll into a curvy knuckle which terminates into the upholstered seat. This piece has a pleasantly carved skirt, with flowing movement along front, and is raised upon cabriole style front legs with splayed back legs, all braced with stretchers. There are traces of the darker blue original paint, with a lighter blue color atop which is also older, but not original. This Swedish period Baroque armchair is quite a lovely piece, making an excellent antique seating addition for your home.
