Thonet Chrome Steel Cantilever Armchairs 1930s Midcentury Bauhaus period. Pair of armchairs by Thonet circa 1930s midcentury Bauhaus period. These cantilever armchairs are typical for the German and Eastern Europe Bauhaus era. These armchairs has a tubular steel frame and is Re-upholstered with a grey fabric. The original armrests are made from beech and have a great warm patina. The screws and the diameter of the steel are showing the originality of the armchairs. These chairs is a great example of the leading design idea of the Bauhaus time. "Form follows function" was the leading idea of that time.
