Zanine Caldas - R armchair

About the Item

Jose Zanine Caldas A self-taught artist, designer and architect, Jose Zanine Caldas (1919-2001) was born on the southern coast of Bahia in Brazil. At age twenty, he opened an architectural scale model workshop in Rio de Janeiro where he worked with modernist pioneers such as Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. In honor of the centenary of José Zanine Caldas in 2019, ETEL, in collaboration with the designer`s family, rescued the design of selected pieces, including R amrchair, from the “Z Artistic Furniture” line and incorporated the philosophy of its “complaint furniture”, valuing the feat to hand and sustainable practices in its reissues. The perfect meeting between straight lines and organic shapes that guarantee the ergonomics and unique beauty of each piece.
