18th C. Italian Carved-Wood Cassone Presented on Paw Feet
About the Item
An Italian carved-wood cassone bench with storage from the 18th century. This antique seating bench from Italy has a recessed panel design and front and both short sides; adorn in thickly carved trim and molding with raised oval-shaped foliate accents flanking the front at either side rail. The top bench seat is suede with nail head trimming. The seat lifts up to reveal ample storage inside. This bench is raised from the floor upon paw-carved feet, which are set at canted angles in an outward fashion. Note that the feet are old, but likely not original to this piece. The wood is rich and warm, with a fabulous old patina from its centuries old age. This 18th century Italian carved-wood bench with storage, would work great at the foot of the bed, or perhaps in an entry hall as a place to keep shoes hidden out of sight.
