3 seater bench by Dominque Prevot & Jean-Luch Favriau for Édition France Design

About the Item

this 3-seater bench was designed around 1970 by dominique prevot and jean-luc favriau and produced by edition france design. that’s about all we know about these benches and their designers (and that there are different spellings of their names.) the benches came in various versions (2-, 3-, 4-seater, in yellow, orange, a spooky pea green and thrombose-stocking-colored). today it can be found in every good design museum, from the adam in brussels to the vitra design museum. what we do know is that in the wild 60s and 70s there was no stopping the design. shapes and colours literally exploded. especially the use of bright colours in combination with plastic gave us wonderful designs like this bench or the boomerang desk by maurice calka (remember the flat eric performance at this desk.) fiberglass, yellow lacquered, black rubber. shows signs of wear and use.

the french janine abraham and the dutch dirk jan rol met for the first time in 1955 in jacques dumonds studio. it immediately clicked, both privately and professionally. their first jointly designed furniture was shown at the salon des artistes decorateurs in 1956. in 1957 they opened a joint design studio. sometimes one plus one can make more than two, they say: the clash of rigour and straightforwardness with fantasy and intuition makes the combination of abraham and rol so special and productive. it resulted in many great designs, especially the wonderful bamboo chairs like this beautiful piece. a pair of basketware lounge chairs with black metal...
