Fatima Arquitetura Interiores (FAI) was created in 1960 by architects Guilherme Nunes and Sávio Visconti in Rio de Janeiro. The company intended to function as the union between architecture, decoration, and art, having a gallery space housed artistic manifestations related to architecture. In addition, Sávio and Guilherme sought to move the local scene, and for that, it also promoted furniture design contests. FAI's production featured furniture with straight lines and careful construction, using Rosewood, leather, cotton fabrics, and cane as primary materials. About Brazilian rosewood, also called Jacaranda, is perhaps one of the most beautiful woods in the world. It is regarded as one of the finest tone woods; hard, stiff, and highly resonant with a glass-like ring that sustains; it has a floral scent, like roses, thus the name. However, extensive overlogging over the past three centuries has virtually eliminated this tree from the Brazilian forests, so that today it is not supposed to be logged. The only material that can be sold legally is old stock. By owning a vintage piece made of old Jacaranda, you’re not only getting a beautiful collectible but also helping this species to recuperate. Size: • H50, W126, D58 (cm) • H19.7, W49.6, D22.8 (in)

    By Celina Decoracoes
    Located in New York, NY
This gorgeous bench was produced in the 1960s by Celina Decorações, which signed one of the most modern lines of Brazilian furniture at the period. It consists of a very well-constructed piece in solid Rosewood, with slats rhythmically positioned supported by two boards working as lateral feet. One of the most beautiful details to pay attention to is the slats' perfect straight finish on the edges that contrast and highlight the organic curves on Rosewood veins. Ideal for indoor uses, this bench offers statement seating in any space. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Celina Decorações factory imposed high-quality standards, maintaining handcrafted characteristics. The company was created in 1951 when Munis Zilberberg takes over the family business - a small upholstery workshop that worked on refurbishing sofa beds and antique furniture. The name is a tribute to her mother, Celina Zilberberg...
