About the Item

Through a conversation of raw materiality and distinctive shapes the New Wave collection illustrates the designers fascination for oceans force. To build the collection Lukas Cober uses fiberglass cloth chosen for its beautiful raw aesthetics and transforms this industrial reinforcement material into sculptural objects. The pieces are build by hand-layering numerous layers of fiberglass cloth with resin into desired shapes. After combining the shapes and removing material for smooth transitions and organic contours, the layers of fibreglass unfold in rythmic lines and the shapes reveal themself drawn as silhouttes against the surface. Decompose and reconstruct the space they reflect. Fiberglass and resin combined and organically shaped. The volan color is slightly transparent. Being exposed to sunlight / UV the color can change over time. The piece has a waxed finish with a satin gloss.
