Javanese Teak Settee with Carved Décor and Out-Scrolling Arms

About the Item

An antique Javanese teak wood plantation settee from the early 20th century, with carved back, large out-scrolling arms and curving legs. Created on the Island of Java during the early years of the 20th century, this teak wood settee attracts our attention to its generous lines and richly decorated back. Topped with large and graceful carved volutes flanking feather style motifs in the center, the back presents a perfectly organized rhythm of delicate balusters in its central section. Pierced accents, surrounding a stylized carved rosette complete the ensemble. The long wooden planked seat is flanked with two large out-scrolling arms, adorned with carved leaves in their extremity. The settee is raised on four elegant feet, shaped like animal legs. With its graceful lines and skillfully executed décor, this teak Javanese plantation settee circa 1900 will bring a touch of relaxed elegance to any home, placed indoors or under a covered patio.
