Large 18th Century English Oak Settle
About the Item
An 18th Century English Oak Settle of Large, Overscale Proportions.
With a finely panelled back of grand height and long enough to comfortably seat four people, this lovely settle is supported on two cabriole front legs, joined with stretchers to the back. The back is unusually sophisticated, with additional shaping to the fielded panels, and additional moulding to give an extra depth to the carving. The arms are well shaped and generously cut away for maximum comfort and the piece employs roped webbing which supports a large squab cushion.
A very large, fine example which will make a real statement. An interesting piece of furniture.
