Mid-18th Century English Patinated Elm Long Trestle Bench

About the Item

ENGLISH PATINATED ELM LONG TRESTLE BENCH Two available Circa 1750 with restorations Item # 305TBP10L-1 An incredibly beautiful bench, we acquired this as part of a pair (the other possibly still available in our inventory under item # 305TBP10L-2) and they are being offered separately. It makes an extraordinary accent piece for a long entryway or hallway, at the end of a king sized bed or if both benches are purchased they work beautifully as intended: as seating for a trestle table of similar vintage. Crafted circa 1750, it has clearly been enjoyed actively for centuries and retains incredibly vibrant surface history that has resulted in a silky glowing patina throughout. A rare form. Measurements: 17 5/8" H x 14 1/2" D (at feet) x 6" D (at seat) x 68 7/8" W Condition Report: One end cracked and repaired numerous times over the decades - a butterfly joint was inserted at one point as well as various pins, but the crack remains a bit wiggly. The bench has a slight warp that results in the need of a furniture pad under two feet to level it. Feet are likely early replacements. Various other restorations. Heavily worn and patinated surface - gorgeous silky patina throughout.
