About the Item

Stunning and rare Renaissance style small bench or side table. Striking Dutch design from the 17th and 18th century. Solid oak frame with hand-carved elements. This wonderful Renaissance style small bench or side table is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. This so-called bedstede bankje is a replica from the 1950s. These benches were used in the 17th and 18th Century to step on so people could get in the bedstead sleeping compartment in the wall of the small and narrow Dutch houses!
