    The Charpai bench is part of the famous Rangeela collection, which is highly acclaimed by the avant-garde. The Rangeela collection is the result of a meeting between a design, a French know-how and a knowledge of Indian dye plants. This collection is conceived as creating objects that open a space for reflection on modernism, decolonisation and colour. The form is inspired by modernist models popular during the colonial era, which have been revisited through the prism of colour. The materials are local and natural and have been carefully chosen. Based on natural Indian dyeing techniques, four dye plants dominate the colour palette of the weaving: turmeric (yellow-orange), madder root (bright red) and annatto seeds (dark red). The wooden elements are dyed with indigo. All of these plants played an essential role in the colonisation of India, and were exploited and traded by the Portuguese, the French and the British East India...
