From Dim to Dazzling: Repurposing with Low-lit Brilliance LOWLIT COLLECTIVE is a Seoul-based repurposing studio, housing a team of creative directors with in-depth industry knowledge and a contemporary artist specialising in painting. Their primary focus lies in designing and crafting captivating furniture and decor products that utilise their green composites, blending reclaimed plastic materials and natural by-products. Through the diligent integration of artistic elements and engaging narratives, their objective is to imbue each piece with vitality, fostering unique connections between objects and individuals. Their approach involves skillfully incorporating our in-house recycled plastic materials, infusing renewed energy into each creation and evoking fresh and enchanting atmospheres. By transforming plastic waste that takes nearly 500 years to decompose into a circular resource that lasts just as long, we ensure longevity and durability by combining it with biomass materials. Repurposing, in essence, is a means of treating and reestablishing connections. It is akin to the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, highlighting the beauty in imperfections. This is precisely why they refer to themselves as a "repurposing studio" rather than a traditional design studio. Through their work, they strive to mend the broken bonds between objects and humans, breathing new life into discarded materials and offering them a renewed sense of purpose.
