Vintage Woven Leather Long Bench by Katavalos Littell and Kelley Laverne c.1950s
The bench was designed by Katavolos, Littell and Kelley in 1952 as part of the original Laverne Collection This example c. 1955. Woven thick leather straps on a rectangular chromed steel base with matte chromed legs. Straps and joinery are all sound and solid. Chrome is clean. Vegetable-tanned original leather is finished in a striking distinct, aged patina. A versatile piece of mid century design that can be used as both bench and small daybed. One small tear to one strap (see photo) Rectilinear and warm minimalist design.
