Pair of Swedish Rococo Style Painted Bergères Chairs, circa 1880 with Upholstery

About the Item

A pair of Swedish painted Rococo style bergères chairs from the late 19th century, with carved crests, scrolled arms, cabriole legs and upholstery. Each of this pair of Swedish bergères features a curved back, topped with a carved floral crest. This back flows seamlessly into the scrolled arms, partially upholstered on the top and flanking a central single custom cushion. Each chair is raised on four short cabriole legs, accented with floral motifs on the knees, beautifully echoed on the front of the skirt. The chairs are painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. With their comfortable shape, elegant Rococo lines and exquisite décor, this pair of Swedish bergères chairs, circa 1880 will bring a graceful touch to any home, particularly in a living room or bedroom.
