It is by the end of spring that Frédéric Imbert launches a new piece: the sofa Cypres. Designed and developed Paris ans Normandy with local wood ; a sofa with soft shapes and highlighted by a hand-carved base. Cypress sofa takes its name from the direct inspiration of the monumental trees which punctuate the landscape of Morbihan. Frédéric explains: ‘It’s in the observation of their structures that the lines appeared. Between strength and flexibility, the silhouette of the branches impresses while offering stunning elegance against the elements.’ The silhouette drawn with curves directly from natural lines is in suspension on the mass of the material. It seeks to capture beauty that nature gives us and to transcrive into a dialogue between the drawing and the craftsman. Sculptor of spaces and. unique pieces as well as series, Frédéric has 'his hands in the material' and works on unexpected local materials, smooth and rough. For Cyprès there are thousands of gestures that gradually sculpt the base of this sofa, a seat of a great comfort and which can be adapted to tailor-made items. Offered in different wood species in order to enhance the diversity of our forests, in an interior version but also in a outdoor version, the Cyprès sofa highlights the subtlety and precision of the craftsman’s hand while highlighting the diversity of our forests is at the heart of my work’ concluded Frédéric Imbert.’ Since 2019, Frédéric Imbert has gradually developed an aesthetic, a practice from the decorative arts: a form of ethical and sustainable luxury with sensitive organic forms highlighted by a sober and committed line: to surprise is often a pleasure, playing with senses is a necessity.
