    French Louis XVI low caned fireside slipper chair, 18th century. This very rare and exceptional low chair is very old, and has withstood the test of time in a remarkably good state, with a minor loss to the base of the caning in a lower corner of the back (see picture). The caning has a lovely pattern. This low, deep chair was probably a fireside chair. However small metal bolts in the back suggest that it may have at some point been attached, possibly to a vehicle or to some kind of carrying device. It is beautiful and highly decorative.
