About the Item

1950s pair of vintage James Leonard Esavian ESA Dining/Side Upholstered Chairs. We have always loved the work of James Leonard for Esavian and we rarely come across the upholstered side chairs. Dating from the early 1950’s the chair frames are cast aluminium with the slightly green tinge finish and with the original Rexine upholstery. We believe the Model is 6012 although they are not stamped. We also have a set of four side chairs available. In our view James Leonard is the unsung hero of British Post War design. His ESA company transformed the design led fit out of schools in the post war period but his legacy is hardly known. Snap up these chairs whilst they are still affordable, we have a number of his designs available. We service and wax each chair individually before they leave our workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality. We specialise in high quality vintage dining chairs and have a large range. Workshop Report Note: The upholstery is original and the foam has flattened somewhat and shows the marks from the stacking bars under the chairs where the chairs have been stacked for some time. Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
