`Groeten uit Holland` armchair designed by Rob Eckhardt
About the Item
Not only comfortable in the normal sitting position but also if your legs are flung over the arms! Fabulous design.
The design 'Groeten uit Holland' chair is based in the form of a tulip. The basic idea behind the design was that the chairs had to form a wave when connected in series. Eckhardt not only wanted to design a chair in which you could sit, but also could lie down in. In his first sketches he only used symmetrical shapes. Asymmetrical chair with a frame of square metal tubes. The seat as well as the armrests are upholstered with the same material. The back is embroidered with a tulip design.
Then he got the idea to make two different armrests, not only in shape but in height as well. This way the chair resembled a budding tulip. In order to emphasise this idea the back was furnished with an upholstery with a tulip design. This fabric was exclusively designed by Cubic Design from The Hague
