Height adjustable Industrial Working Sewing Chairs from Singer, England 1940

About the Item

A pair of rare and well preserved Singer sewing machine work chairs, England circa 1940. Cast iron leg, sprung and height adjustable backrests, height adjustable seats, all feet marked with Singer. Adustable Height from 75,5 cm to 87 cm, seat height from 43 - 55 cm. Singer The Corporation is an American manufacturer of sewing machines, founded in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer as I. M. Singer & Co. Inspired by its success, Singer took the initiative in 1910 and brought specially adapted furniture onto the market: a stool with a cast-iron base and original wooden seat was the starting signal for the range. Years later, the stool was fitted with a backrest and became the famous adjustable chair.
