Kazuki Armchair by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina

About the Item

Kazuhide Takahama was born in Japan in 1930 and after completing his studies in Architecture in Tokyo he started working in Kazuo Fuioka’s studio. In 1957, he went to Italy to visit the Triennale in Milan where he met Dino Gavina. He developed his own well-defined style in a climate of profuse cultural exchanges. The furniture and lighting he designed often features clean lines and formal restraint. When designing the ’Kazuki’ chair Takahama was influenced by the Japanese tradition of lacquerware. The lacquer finish creates a striking finish. Manufactured by Simon Gavina International, they were one of the first manufacturers to use the gloss lacquer technique within the modern industrial process.
