Oak and Woven Rush Equate Dining Chair by Non-Standard Furniture and Lighting

About the Item

The angled struts, the feathered backrest, and the stand-off between seat and back leg give this simple modern oak chair a precise engineered look. Strength and lightness (it weighs only 3.5kg), and then a traditional woven rush or danish cord seat for counterbalance. The black version of Equate is scorched and scrubbed (the shou sugi ban technique) which reveals the rich texture of the grain. This is then given a durable hand-rubbed oil finish, as is the natural oak version. Other timbers and colors are available by request. Equate is also available as a carver. The Non-Standard studio is led by designer/maker Marcus Jacka and is based in a rural setting in the beautiful North York Moors National Park in the north of England. All our work is hand made, in small volumes and of exceptional quality.
