Giorgio Mariani (b. 1966)
A beautiful, sculptural Cubist armchair in massive asymmetrical blocks of pine with contrasting circular patterns of wood grain at the seat. This stunning and unique piece by woodworker Giorgio Mariani is as much art as it is furniture. Influenced by Italian Futurism, French Cubism, George Nakashima's American Craft movement, and the theories of Universal Design, this incredible work evidences a rigorous, architectural use of craft and material in service of highly imaginative design.
