    This Rattan Wall Mirror is an original decorative object manufactured by the Italian company Bonacina between 1950s/1960s. The material of this mirror is the so-called midollino, that is rattan , a sort of climbing palm widespread in tropical and sub-tropical areas. The name of midollino probably derives from the fact that it is obtained from the innermost part of the rattan plant, that is, from the 'pith'. Considered as one of the poorest materials in the fashion world, this material was protagonist of a golden age during the '50s and '60s, when women loved wearing accessories made of straw, rope and bamboo; how can we forget the famous Gucci Bamboo bag...
