Vintage Beaded African Ceremony or Nobility Chair
About the Item
Mid 20th century vibrant red and white hand beaded African ceremony chair.
Originally crafted for Yoruba tribe kings and queens, these chairs boast a meticulous process involving thousands of glass beads meticulously applied to fabric covers. These covers are then expertly stitched onto the chair frame, resulting in an exotic piece adorned with elaborate beading. The intricate beading process alone takes approximately 12 to 14 weeks for a single chair.
While the chair exhibits wear consistent with its age and historical use, including some minor areas where beads are missing (refer to detail images), these imperfections contribute to its natural and authentic appearance. Solid and comfortable, this furniture piece is not just functional but truly an art piece as well.
Please keep in mind that in many cases we sell vintage and antique pieces. None of these pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition.
All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
