About the Item

Elegant 19th century French Empire walnut daybed or chaise lounge featuring carved swan neck ends. The cushioned seat is within padded ends of unequal height with gilded swan necked facing boards having diamond crests on each end over a paneled apron applied with florets on four lovely classic tapered turned feet. This smart and opulent chaise is typical of classic French Louis XVI design in its elaborate reinterpretation of earlier 19th century Empire styles, which in turn were derived from Ancient Greek and Roman models. New upholstery in a neutral high end British pale beige fabric. Nice original condition, minimal wear throughout and extremely comfortable!
