2 Vintage George III French Hepplewhite Style Balloon Back Open Arm Chairs Green

About the Item

An elegant pair of English George III style open arm chair, circa 1960s. Features a balloon back, scrolled padded arms and tapered fluted legs. The chairs are trimmed with acanthus moldings, upholstered in a green diamond fabric and finished with brass nailhead trim. The wood is finished in a provincial tone. A noticeable difference between these chairs and those of Louis XVI form is the placement of the arms. Neoclassicism brought changes in fashion which required the arms to move to the front of the chair. Believed to be from Baker's European Collection made between the 1960s-70s.
