This is a rare opportunity to acquire a collectors set of double-signed 1st-Generation "original" Barcelona lounge chair with matching ottoman by Knoll International, both pieces are labelled (cushions) and stamped (frames) and in its original gorgeous cognac brown color leather. What is special about this set is that it was produced between 1968 and 1969 just after Knoll Associates became Knoll International, at the height of their ascent in modern designs and production and just before they moved to their future location on Fifth Ave in 1970. Being one of the most copied designs (and a timeless Classic), we never purchase unsigned Barcelona chairs and we suggest you be hesitant when considering an unsigned set, so of course we were delighted to find this signed 1st Generation Knoll Associates Barcelona lounge chair showing the earlier 320 Park Ave address (circa 1961) on the original cushion labels and Knoll Associates strap label. These are fine collectors examples prime for the most discriminating collector or interior designer client. These examples have a nice light patina to the black leather cushions which exhibit a lightly distressed look to some areas. Very beautiful for those who love the look of aged leather. No rips or tears and wear is stable. Usable for every day chairs for many more years to come. Being one of the most copied designs (and a timeless Classic), we never purchase unsigned Barcelona chairs and we suggest you be hesitant when considering an unsigned example, so of course we were delighted to acquire this fantastic signed Knoll International (early production original) Barcelona lounge chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in beautiful brown leather over stainless steel frame with brown leather straps. This example is from circa 1970 - the Knoll International label with 745 Fifth Ave address along with particular construction details indicates it was produced from 1970 to the early/mid 70s and has attractive leather patina to the original brown leather cushions. The frame is in excellent vintage condition with light wear and is stainless steel, which combined with the correct rivets as seen in the photographs, helps to authenticate this as the correct and authentic Knoll International frame to the authentic labeled cushions. Early "original" examples like this one are sought after by collectors and art/ design investors.
