Pair of Original Leather Antique Victorian Club Armchairs Chippendale Buttons

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this super comfortable pair of original leather, Victorian club armchairs with coil sprung bases, feather filled cushions and Thomas Chippendale style floating buttons on the arms. These are a very well made and exceptionally comfortable pair of Gentleman’s Club type armchairs, sitting in these is like sitting in a pair of slippers, you sink and are snuggled by the chair, they are perfect. I have kept the chairs totally original as the leather has beautifully worn and aged, the rustic look and feel is impossible to replicate, it can only be achieved through genuine age and honest use. The only restorations I have done is the seat bases have been rewebbed and the springs realigned and secured in place, we have then fitted vintage hessian which has been hand nail tacked in place using vintage upholstery nails The seat bases are fully coil spring including the front edge, what this means is instead of having a hard piece of timber behind the back of your legs its sprung, these seat platforms were significantly more expensive to make and are significantly more comfortable Condition wise, the leather is well aged as mentioned, the second chair has a wear line split in the back and some tiny holes a few millimetres wide in the top, otherwise they are period and wonderful! This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
