French Directoire style mahogany Recamier or day bed with turned feet and gently out-curving arms. This later 19th century model was reproduced directly from the Jacques-Louis David painting of Madame Juliette Recamier (from whom the day bed takes its name). The Recamier includes seven down-stuffed cushions: a large seat cushion, two bolster pillows, two large square pillos and one small square pillow. Upholstery is wool mohair gold-on-gold striped velvet.
Place of Origin
Date of Manufacture
Very good overall condition; some minor chips, scratches and losses to veneer; upholstery is good quality and useable, although it has some rust stains, primarily on the pillows.
