1960’s Elegant Back Original Thonet Dining Chairs – Set Of Nine 1950’s Elegant Back Original Thonet Dining Chairs – Set Of Nine. Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is a stunning set of late sixties original Thonet chairs in a simple elegant and contemporary shape. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent condition. Seat Height 47cm WORKSHOP REPORT Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
