Amazing set of Twelve, Tobia (son of Carlo) and Afra Scarpa “Dialogo” chairs

About the Item

Super rare set of 12 "dialogo" chairs designed by , Tobia (son of Carlo) and Afra Scarpa" and produced by B&B Italia for a short period in 1974. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a set of this impressive scale. The original fibre shells can be covered in leather if desired by the buyer , it was an original but rarely seen special order option. These are the rare and in our opinion the most beautiful variant of the design with the combined armrests (it was also the most expensive version as documented in Casa Vogue, December 1974 ), B and B italia,1974. The influence of Tobia's iconic father ,Carlo Scarpa, on the form of the wooden sides can be clearly seen. The chairs feature solid ash wood frames with black fibre seats. The wood sides can be dismantled from the fibre seats and can be stacked as can the fibre seats so transport costs will be very reasonable for a set of this impressive size. The Dialogo chairs are published in the following literature :- “CASA VOGUE”, issue number 40, December 1974, pages 89 and 99 “REPERTORIO 1950-80”, Gramigna, Mondadori, 1982 page 398 “ABITARE” issue number 132 , January –February 1975 pages 140-41 “DOMUS”, issue number 547 ,June 1975, page 42 “INTERNI,LA RIVISTA DELL ‘ ARREDAMENTO”, issue number 244, April 1975, featured in article on an interior designed by architect Nana Prina, the dialogo chairs are featured on pages 38,39 and 41 “INTERNI, LA RIVISTA DELL ‘ ARREDAMENTO”, issue number 249, September 1975, pg 21 “DECORATIVE ART 70S” , Charlotte and Peter Fiell,Taschen,2000, pg 437 (full page illustrating the complete “dialogo” range )
