Established & Sons Sessel Chair in Yellow Beech with Gray Back by Martino Gamper

$1,027.96per item

About

Gamper’s creation of the Sessel chair was driven by a fascination of the traditional bentwood archetype and the way in which its industrialised production has been mastered throughout its 150 yearlong history. Aspiring to create his first production chair, Gamper dissembled the bentwood archetype to then rejoin the components and let the assembly of the pieces create the Sessel’s shape. Rather than aiming to revolutionise the bentwood chair, Gamper decided to tweak the iconic original. He intelligently added strength to the joints through square bentwood panels eliminating the need for a supportive ring and creating a more angular aesthetic. Gamper further injected his own spirit by utilizing different woods and colours. Seat height: 44.5 cm tall.

Collaborating with more than 50 designers with a balance of emerging talent and well-known artists to create close to 200 designs, a third of which are collectible art editions, Established & Sons has established itself as a classic brand in luxury design. They are a creative platform that transcends conventional boundaries, and their collections are designed by imaginative, innovative designers with personality. They believe artisanal freedom is essential to nurturing extraordinary design. Highly revered, and acquired by collectors and museums, these ambitious design commissions inspire and lead the global conversation in 21st century collectable design. Relying on skilled craftsmen and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, the designs are at the same time diverse in the extreme and united in their quest for the extraordinary. As a manufacturer and design director, their own Sebastian Wrong has worked with many of the preeminent names in contemporary design. Wrong was a founding member of Established & Sons, and contributed significantly to the development of the collection, including pieces that have become icons of 21st century design.
