About the Item

Exclusive sale of chairs produced by AB Nordiska Kompaniet for the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö 1914 AB NORDISKA KOMPANIET's furniture factory in Nyköping was founded in 1904 and became one of Europe's most prominent and sought-after furniture manufacturers. Here, furniture was made by hand by master carpenters according to the drawings of their own furniture architects. One of the furniture architects is named Albin Elison and is the one responsible for the fair stand "Herrum i björk" (men's room in birch) at the Baltic Exhibition in 1914. The Krontorp series was drawn in 1913 on order for the Baltic Exhibition - see picture from the Exhibition. Now 6 chairs are offered, of which 2 frame chairs of the model "Krontorp" in birch, all badged on the back AB Nordiska Kompaniet and registered in NK's customer register in 1913 and according to it ordered for the Baltic Exhibition in 1914.

  • Condition:
    Wear consistent with age and use. The construction of the chairs is intact with no play at the fastenings, the wooden surfaces have held up very well and look good for being 110 years old. The fabric may be from the time but may also have been replaced later, though not recently.
