Exquisite Quality Victorian 1860 Hardwood & Leather Dining Chairs After Gillows

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this suite of six absolutely exquisite quality hand made in England Mahogany framed dining chairs after Gillows These chairs are honestly the finest quality, they are certainly made by Gillows of Lancaster and London however they don’t have external stamps and I don’t want to remove the bases to have a look inside. These chairs have the very rare hand rail backs so they are easy to pull in and out, I've only ever seen one or two other suites with this back rail in my time They are made from extremely dense, heavy, solid mahogany which has been beautifully hand carved, the castors are all period white porcelain. The leather upholstery is Boudraux, fully aniline, it was upholstered plain then hand dyed. Honestly these are pretty much the finest quality Victorian armchairs money can buy Condition wise, we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, they have normal age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect from 160+ year old pieces Dimensions Height:- 91.5cm Width:- 52cm Depth:- 62.5cm Seat height:- 49.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
